Researcher Development and Research Culture
If you are a Postgraduate Research Student (PGR) or ‘Early Career’ Research (ECR) staff member at the University of Exeter, our Researcher Development programmes, funded initiatives, interdisciplinary events, resources and career support provide opportunities to enhance your research and employability, to meet others and become part of our vibrant research community. We offer workshops, webinars, online resources, career guidance and funding to help you design your own professional development programme. If you have any questions please contact the Researcher Development team at researcherdevelopment@exeter.ac.uk.
This website gives further details of our Core Programme for postgraduate researchers with additional information for Postgraduate researchers located at the St Luke’s campus, Cornwall campuses and Distance Learners.
Our team has a dedicated careers coach, who supports Postgraduate Research students. We have strong links to the team in the University Career Zone. We provide support for you to explore your career development.
Support for our Early Career Researchers includes training and development, early career researcher networks, careers support and researcher-led initiatives.
Our annual Researcher-led Initiative awards are available for both ECRs and PGRs to apply for funding design, manage and deliver local training and development.
Our annual Postgraduate Research Showcase runs for a week (usually in May or June) and celebrates the work of our vibrant postgraduate research community.
As part of our Writing Support we offer a range of writing support for PGRs throughout their research journey, including training, facilitated writing ‘clubs’, an annual Write Fest and much more.
Postgraduate researchers at Exeter benefit from access to skills training and resources from across the GW4 institutions of Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter.
We encourage all our PGRs and ECRs to share their stories and to write for our Doctoral College Blog. If you would like to write or join our editorial team, please let us know.
