Support
Dr Isabel Hallam
Centre Manager
As Centre Manager I am responsible for the operational support provided to CDT students and staff. I work closely with the CDT leadership team and colleagues across the University of Exeter to ensure that the CDT delivers on its strategic objectives connected to training, research and engagement. I have worked in UK higher education for 10 years as a teaching-focused academic in the fields of psychology, education and research methods, and also as undergraduate student experience manager. My own PhD and ongoing research focuses on what enables university students to persist with their studies when things are hard, the role of personal tutoring in that persistence, and how disadvantaged students can be supported to achieve in higher education. In my earlier career I worked in the NGO sector as a political campaigns manager on environmental and human rights issues.
Sam Young
Centre Administrator
As Centre Administrator I deal with all aspects of organisation for the EI CDT, including event management, student recruitment and registration, external speaker engagement and catering. I am responsible for the EI mailbox, SharePoint site and Webpages. I am the first point of contact for any student queries and management/director requests. I work closely with other University departments to ensure the smooth running of the EI CDT.
Having worked over 25 years in various administration roles, I bring a wealth of experience to the team. My University career has spanned over the last 6 years, joining the EI CDT in March 2022.
I have an interest in Social Sciences, having obtained a BSc (Hons) in Criminology and Social Policy and recently a MA in Crime and Justice.
