Dr Attila Bebes
Experimental Officer
My name is Attila Bebes, I joined the Centre for Cytomics at the University of Exeter in 2020. I am a biologist by training and completed my PhD in 2012 at the University of Szeged in Hungary. I have acquired years of technology experience in various flow cytometry core facilities in the UK including the Iain Fraser Cytometry Centre at the University of Aberdeen and the Flow Cytometry at the Babraham Institute in Cambridge. My main interest lies in exploring immunological and environmental applications in the field of cytometry.
Dr George Vere
Experimental Officer
I am George Vere and following my PhD in the MRC CMM at the University of Exeter I now serve as an Experimental Officer at EXCC.
I specialise in high-dimensional flow cytometry and bring expertise in immunology and immunometabolism to the Facility. I am keen to explore the wider applications of cytometry to a range of biological problems and further advance the capabilities of the Centre.
Dr Iolanda Domingues
Experimental Officer
My name is Iolanda Domingues, I have joined the University of Exeter Centre for Cytomics as an Experimental Officer in 2024. I am a microbiologist and have a PhD in Evolutionary Biology from the University of Lisbon.
I became instantly excited about cytometry upon meeting the EXCC team and am now looking forward to bringing my expertise to Cytomics Penryn, as well as develop collaborations with the different fields of research explored on this Campus.
I am a community-oriented scientist, as I believe great results emerge from collaborative and creative teams. I am also keen on spreading the excitement of science to the wider community and firm believer in the importance of outreach activities.
Amanda Goodison
Research Facility Administrator
I am Amanda Goodison and I joined the Research Facilities team in July 2022 working with Aquatic Resources Centre, Exeter Centre for Cytomics and Exeter Sequencing Facility as RF Administrator. My remit is to provide support these three RFs in the areas of Engagement/Events, Finance and Operations.
My background is in communications and marketing working across a wide variety of sectors including education, healthcare and professional services
A dual-national I was educated in the US and worked in London before moving to the West Country in 2009 and Exeter in 2015. When not working she can be found playing tennis or attempting yoga.
Dr Raif Yuecel
Head of Centre for Cytomics
As Director of the Exeter Centre for Cytomics, my passion for cytometry was inspired during my PhD studies at the University of Duisburg-Essen, where I was investigating immunological research using flow cytometry. This pivotal moment was my first encounter with the technology and laid the foundation for a career dedicated to the research and application of this technology. Prior to this, my Master's projects in science had already sparked my interest in the intricate world of microbiology and bacterial studies and fuelled my scientific curiosity. My journey in the field of cytometry has been varied and rewarding, highlighted in particular by my role as Head of the Iain Fraser Cytometry Centre at the University of Aberdeen. From my early days at Philip Morris International through to my significant contributions at Miltenyi Biotec GmbH and now at Exeter, I have always endeavoured to advance cytometry across a broad spectrum of biological systems. My enthusiasm for the field goes beyond research; I am actively involved in various societies and committees and always endeavour to push the boundaries of cytometry and its applications.
