I am a cultural and historical geographer passionate about the significance that ideas, theory and philosophy hold for geographical study. My research interests encompass literary and visual geographies, the spatial dimensions of death and mourning, and the history and philosophy of geographical thought. Over the last few years, I have been working on a monograph that re-engages with ancient and premodern geographical thought. Speculative Earth: Geophilosophy and Ancient Geographical Thought is forthcoming with Edinburgh University Press, and represents a cross-disciplinary work drawing upon geography, European philosophy, cartography, classics and cultural history. Its ambition is to re-animate the geographical archive and to establish new kinds of inter-disciplinary dialogue between geography and classical studies.
