LGBT+ rights
The work of several members of the network focuses on law, sexual orientation and gender identity. This covers a broad range of topics relating to LGBT+ rights including same-sex relationships, legal gender recognition including transgender procreation rights and human rights for intersex and non-binary communities. The work of network members in this area has a strong policy focus, with members working with the European Union, UK Government and civil society across issues such as:
- the de-centralisation of hetero- and cis-normativity
- how do LGBT+ clients experience the family justice system?
- does the protected characteristic ‘gender reassignment’ offered by the Equalities Act 2010 sufficiently protect members of the non-binary community?
- what has been the impact of Brexit on LGBT+ populations?
