About me:

Alex is a highly experienced systematic reviewer and information specialist who joined PenTAG as a Research Fellow in September 2023.

He began working in systematic reviews and health technology assessments of research evidence in healthcare in 2011 and has primarily spent the intervening years producing guidelines on behalf of the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and for specialist NHS services.

Alex’s current role in PenTAG is to evaluate health technologies for national policymakers.

Interests:

Alex is interested in the move towards using new technologies and automation through artificial intelligence in health technology assessment (HTA). He sees their incorporation as an opportunity to increase the efficiency, accuracy, and quality of HTA. However, he is also aware that new technologies must be used appropriately with a good understanding of their limitations.

Qualifications:

  • MSc Library and Information Studies (City University, 2010)
  • BSc Environmental Science (University of Sussex, 2001)
