Evidence Reviews & Public Health
Currently no active Public Health reviews.
A number of researchers in ESMI have a strong interest and extensive experience in the challenges of identifying, appraising and synthesising evidence about public health programmes and activities. Until mid-2011, ESMI (then working as PenTAG) was one of two academic Collaborating Centres which support NICE's public health guidance development. We worked closely with both the Centre for Public Health Excellence at NICE, and our colleagues in the other Collaborating Centre (at ScHARR, University of Sheffield) to produce high quality systematic reviews and economic analyses of public health interventions and broader strategic approaches to improving public health. These past projects are listed below.
More recently we are conducting research into the use and impact of reporting guidelines relevant to public health and behavioural interventions, and a review of the implementation of health promotion in schools (as part of the newly formed NIHR School for Public Health Research)
Workstream Lead: Dr Rob Anderson
Our programme of public health work for NICE finished in May 2011
