Stuart Townley is a Professor of Applied Mathematics, jointly in DEES and the ESI. He has supervised 25 PhD students across control theory, dynamical systems, mathematical neuroscience, ecology renewable energy, climate and weather, numerical analysis from Africa, Asia, Europe and South America.
Previously, he was a post doc at Warwick, Mathematics Institute 1986 - 1988, followed by a post doc at Bath, School of Math. Sci., 1988-1990. I joined Exeter in 1990 as lecturer, promoted to Reader in 1996 and Professor in 1999. I was Head of Dept. Mathematics 2003-2005 and Associate Dean in the Postgraduate Faculty, 2003 - 2005. I was Academic Lead for CEM, 2010 - 2024. He has published over 150 paper in journals and conferences from pure mathematics to engineering, to ecology, through to ethics.
