Liza is an environmental social scientist, working as a postdoctoral research fellow. She joins Exeter to work on the InBestSoil Horizon Europe/UKRI project, which studies the integration of soil health metrics into alternative agricultural business models. Her research also focuses on innovation systems and policy for alternative agricultural systems, particularly related to seed and breeding innovation. Prior to starting at Exeter, Liza earned her PhD at the University of California Davis, where she conducted nationwide assessments of the organic seed system. She specializes in cases related to agri-food systems, ranging from agrobiodiversity management and organic certification to nitrogen policy. Liza also hold degrees in Sustainability Science and Policy (MSc), Organic Farming (MSc), and Biology and Political Science (BA).
