Internal Research Fellowship/Associateship
Societies & Cultures Institute Funded Research Opportunities
SCI is now offering two new funding opportunities to support the early stage development of new, innovative, interdisciplinary projects aimed at securing external funding:
Up to 3 months teaching replacement to enable the initiation of a project intended to compete for external funding. The project should be collaborative and bring together perspectives and methodologies from disciplines both across and beyond the HASS environment. This may be a pilot or proof-of-concept project with the potential to be scaled up for external funding. The Fellowship award carries backfill funding for the home department, a £2k research support allowance and SCI administrative support to enable the delivery of the fellowship project. The Fellow will be invited to lead a panel, workshop or network event to showcase their research plans and to contribute to SCI’s research communications via social media.
Applicants should submit a 1000-word research proposal supported by an indicative budget for the research support allowance together with a statement of support from the Departmental DORI.
The deadline for applications is Monday 24 February 2025. Applications will be reviewed by the SCI academic directors & the Faculty APVC Research & Impact.
A research allowance of £2k for the development of innovative, interdisciplinary research in conjunction with a FHASS-Department Research leave term. Staff with the confirmed allocation of research leave for the academic year 2025/26 are invited to propose development activity connected with their research leave plan which aligns with SCI’s commitment to the promotion of novel HASS-based research. Associates will be invited to lead a panel, workshop or network event related to their chosen research theme and to contribute to SCI’s research communications via social media.
Applicants should submit a 500-word research proposal supported by an indicative budget for the research support allowance together with a statement of support from the Departmental DORI.
