SCI & IDSAI collaborate to host AI & HASS Networking and Scoping event
On Monday 24th June, we collaborated with the Institute of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (IDSAI) to hold a full-day networking and horizon scoping event focused on AI in HASS-based research.
We brought together academics from a range of HASS and ESE disciplines, from all career stages, to discuss their research together with academics from the Department of Computer Science. The event was spread across Margaret Rooms 1, 2 & 3, and the below themes were assigned to each room throughout the day. Attendees were asked to choose which theme they wished to discuss and changed rooms accordingly, ensuring that they met new people with new ideas for the duration of the event.
Themes:
- Creativity & AI
- Data & AI Mediated Communications
- Language & Linguistics
- Collections & Big Data
- Ethics & Governance
- Politics & Computational Science
This was well attended and was a brilliant first step towards building trans-disciplinary and cross-faculty collaborations and relationships around HASS-led research in data science and AI.
We plan to work with IDSAI to organise similar events in 2024/25, so watch this space!
