Ocean Technology
We investigate applications in offshore renewable energy, maritime operations, ocean observations, aquaculture, fisheries and other marine infrastructure. Our Centre for Offshore Technology (COT) has world-class engineering facilities to support theoretical design, component testing and sea trials, offering a coherent development route for new technologies. Whilst optimisation, power electronics and sensor development help improve monitoring and management for established technologies.
Applied work is supported by expertise in station keeping, marine operations, and oceanographic monitoring. We also study the environmental, legal, policy and social aspects of marine technology development, driving functional and sustainable development in offshore technology products and processes.
