Early Career Fellowships to promote an early independent research career in medical mycology for outstanding individuals
We offer four-year Early Career Fellowships to newly qualified postdoctoral researchers with the aim of attracting the most outstanding individuals to develop an early independent research career in medical mycology. Individuals in their final year of PhD or with up to five years postdoctoral research experience are eligible to apply, and final selection of candidates requires additional ratification by the MRC CMM International Scientific Advisory Board (ISAB). Appointed individuals develop a scientific research project requiring Management Board approval.
Projects submitted by the Early Career Fellows need to be cutting-edge, cross-disciplinary and involve at least two MRC CMM PIs. One Fellowship is specifically targeted at an individual with expertise in bioinformatics, to help facilitate the establishment of this discipline within the MRC CMM. It is envisaged that these Fellowships will position successful applicants for independent funding applications in the future, such as MRC Career Development Awards. Early Career Fellows will be supported with £20k/p.a. for research expenses, to accelerate the rapid development of their cutting edge research programmes.
Submission of applications for this call is now closed.
