Justice and Violence Studies @Exeter

The Network's mentoring scheme.

Mentoring is typically understood as “a process that supports personal and professional development and a relationship in which objectivity, credibility, honesty, trustworthiness and confidentiality are all critical” (Hawkes 2010: 4).

Do you need mentoring help? Or can you volunteer to be a mentor? Take advantage of being part of the Network to find others to work with in an informal way. There's a minimum commitment of one mentoring session but the relationship can be extended if both parties agree.

Advantages to mentees:

  • Gain new perspectives
  • Develop new skills
  • Grow in confidence

Advantages to mentors:

  • Reassess your own work and outlook
  • Support the development of others
  • Build your network
