Caroline Huxtable - Open Access Repository Librarian

Caroline has worked in a number of roles at the University library since 2000, and has been involved in open access to varying degrees since 2007.

She is the open access repository officer, supporting use of the institutional repository (ORE) to provide open access to publications, and overseeing repository content. She facilitates compliance with research funders’ open access requirements, with particular focus on researchers’ self-archiving to ORE of research outputs.

She offers advice, guidance and training to researchers on all aspects of open access, including funder and other open access policies, and the use of Symplectic as it interacts with the repository.

Imogen Ward-Smith – Open Access Publications Librarian

Imogen administers the University's central open access funds: UKRI, Wellcome Trust, British Heart Foundation and the Institutional open access fund.

Her role involves supporting researchers to publish open access, including accessing funding to pay open access publishing fees, publishing through publisher Transformative Agreements and supporting compliance with funders’ and University open access policies. Imogen provides training and guidance on all of the above.

Imogen has a BSc Biological Sciences (King's College London) and PgDip Library and Information Management (Northumbria University). She has worked in the Library at University of Exeter since 2011 and in open access since 2016.

Ailsa Poll - Scholarly Communications Librarian

Ailsa is a member of the Open Research team, based at the Cornwall Campus, where she works closely with the library’s Academic Liaison team.

Ailsa provides essential support to researchers in Penryn, fostering a deeper understanding of open research practices and offering guidance on various aspects of open access, including compliance with funder and university policies, and routes to publishing. Ailsa will direct researchers to the most suitable Open Research team member for specialised assistance when required.

Ailsa has worked for University of Exeter and Falmouth University since 2018 in academic liaison and scholarly communications roles and has an MA in English from the University of Exeter.
