AI for Business

We are keen to bring our skills into industry wherever possible.
Recent examples of how we have applied some of our capabilities are included below, please get in touch if you would like to talk to a Data Science or AI expert about a commercial proposition

Executive Education

We have working with the Met Office to deliver a Machine Learning training package to climate scientists.

Sponsorship

Following work with LV= to use machine learning to model how climate change could affect insurance claims we have now established a studentship with this partner to look at geospatial data, climate information and insurance data.

Externally Partnered Research

Chatbots

We have worked with the Met Office to develop a climate chat bot. The chatbot is designed for members of the public and journalists to access reliable information about climate change from a trusted source. We are now beginning work with Ordnance Survey to develop a chatbot for their users.

Automated Detection

Pollen Detection

We are working with Swansea University to automate pollen detection using machine learning and computer vision. Pollen is currently identified and counted manually from samples analyzed by technicians. This project looks to automatically identify and count the different varieties digitally. We anticipate to have developed automatic sensing for different varieties of grass pollen by the conclusion of this project.

Sluice Gate Blockage Detection

We are working with DEFRA and the Environment Agency to automate the detection of blocked sluice gates in rivers. The gates can become blocked with rubbish and non-biodegradable matter, increasing the risk of flooding. Previously staff would need to manually patrol riverbanks, a job impossible to do completely. We are working to train CCTV feeds and automatically detect when the gates are blocked.
