Mind the Gap? Perceptions and Realities of Sexualities and Diversities Education for Church of England Ordinands

This research project, funded by the University of Durham's Common Awards seedcorn funding scheme, brings into focus differences and distinctions between approaches to training on sexualities and equalities at Church of England theological education institutions (TEIs). Key questions include:

  • How effectively do TEIs currently prepare their students on the pastoral, legal, theological, spiritual and practical aspects of sexualities education?
  • To what extent do LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender)-identified students and staff, experience greater tension or disquiet about current practices of sexualities education than heterosexual and cis-identified  students and staff?
  • How do TEIs feel that sexualities education is best delivered within the Common Awards framework?
