Digital toolset
Currently, most shrimp hatchery biosecurity training materials are highly technical and text-based. Often, the most up-to-date information is not available in Bengali. We have created engaging and accessible materials in Bengali that can be used by hatcheries for staff education and training.
Our digital toolset takes advantage of the widespread and growing use of digital technologies and social media across Bangladesh. We hope this will promote more sustainable hatchery practice by raising awareness of the importance of biosecurity, increasing the accessibility of good biosecurity practices and illustrating low-cost, feasible options to achieve this.
Training videos
A set of seven short videos for hatchery staff biosecurity training.
1. Introduction
2. Stop pathogens getting into your hatchery
3. Stop pathogens growing in your hatchery
4. Stop pathogens spreading around your hatchery
5. Keep disease outbreaks under control
6. Look after your local environment
7. Monitor and manage your hatchery risks
Self-assessment app
An android mobile phone app for senior hatchery staff to assess their biosecurity levels across different areas of practice, and identify routes for improvement.
This is suitable only for android mobile phones. To visualise on a PC, an android emulator is required. Please download the app through the Play Store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.esapath.bioselfasessment)
Monitoring templates
A set of spreadsheets for hatcheries to use in monitoring (in English and Bengali):
