Alex provides financial support to institutional block grant funding, where a funder will provide the University with a lump sum award with the purpose of being internally managed or sub-awarded to support a broadly defined area of activity.

Primarily this is providing financial support to the Translational Funding Team and their management of the Impact Accelerator Awards. However, his portfolio is not limited to this group of awards, as new block grants are funded and existing awards come to an end.

Alex also financially supports awards from funders that support Open Access costs for research publications. The management of the publications is supported by colleagues in the Library, and Alex provides financial support to these colleagues.

Alex is a well rounded member of Research Finance, supporting Project Managers, Project Administrators and Academics alike with setting up of new awards, new sub-awards, financial management of both block grants and their sub-awards as well as support and guidance for the systems and processes that Research Services operates within.
