Chris is the strategic lead for Researcher Development and Research Culture at the university and manages the associated team within the Doctoral College and Research Services. Chris is responsible for planning, budgeting and day-to-day management and is a member of the Research Services Senior Management Team. Chris heads the researcher development and the research culture agendas for the university, encompasing PGR and ECR wellbeing/representation, researcher training needs, responsible metrics, links with VITAE, GW4, communications and feedback on the work of the Researcher Development and Research Culture team.
Having c. 30 years of experience in developing and delivering high impact agendas across strategic research sectors, Chris has developed an expert understanding of research and research support, both within the HE sector and beyond.
Prior to Chris's current appointment he was a Senior Scientifc Officer at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew where he specialised in the conservation of monocotyledonous palms and orchids, working in America, Australia and South Africa as part of the Millenium Seed Bank Project.
