As Senior Research and Impact Strategy Manager, Lorna provides strategic co-ordination and development of institution-wide research strategy and planning, and leads on strategic initiatives. She has a strong interest in EDI and research culture, and promotes inclusive and supportive research environments.
Lorna started out in film and television production, working on films including Brick Lane and The Other Boleyn Girl, before working for arts institutions including Shakespeare's Globe, Ministry of Stories, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, RADA, and Trinity Laban. Lorna's experience encompassed producing, progressing to senior management roles. As Executive Director of arts organisation CIod Ensemble, Lorna led on arts, health and science collaborations with NHS, university, and research partners.
Lorna founded a creative literacy charity in 2013, and was Chair of Tottenham-based charity Arts Bridge Culture (ABC) for three years. ABC exists to widen participation to the arts for children and young people from backgrounds underrepresented in the sector. Lorna has completed the Clore Leadership programme.
Since joining the University of Exeter in 2018 Lorna has worked in both research and education, including as Head of Degree Apprenticeships, and in public engagement with research at the MRC Centre for Medical Mycology, and in research policy and strategy roles.
