Michael graduated with a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Leeds in 1986, and has subsequently been awarded PGDip in Land and Water Management from Cranfield University, and MBA from the Open University Business School.
Michael’s career began as a member of a small research team in the University of Reading’s Meteorology Department where he contributed to the design and development of low-cost satellite remote sensing systems. More recently he has worked for the Met Office in a number of technical and management roles, where he acquired extensive experience in the development of scientific software in research and operational environments, including contributions to the highly regarded Met Office Unified Model.
In 2016 Michael joined the University of Exeter as an Associate Lecturer with their new DTS Degree Apprenticeship programme, and in 2018 joined the Computer Science Department as a full-time lecturer.
