About me:
I joined the University of Exeter in November 2022, supporting the Policy@Exeter Research Network and developing an impact strategy for the Evidence Based Justice Lab. In April 2023 I joined the Research Services Division as Networks Facilitation Manager, where I lead a small team providing oversight and support for the 13 Exeter Research Networks.
Prior to joining the university I spent four years establishing and running my own business. Before that I worked for many years in various public sector and government organisations including the Home Office, Department of Work and Pensions, Ministry of Justice and Youth Justice Board where I held senior operational and strategic roles, most recently as Head of Strategy & Safeguarding Governance at the Youth Justice Board. I have also held trustee roles for two Devon organisations: Young Devon and InExeter.
In 2016 I completed a Professional Doctorate in Leadership of Children and Young People's Services at the Institute of Applied Social Research within the University of Bedfordshire. My research considered the issue of boys' self-harm in youth custody and examined the role of youth justice assessments in identifying risk factors. I was able to use my research to inform the development of an evidence-based assessment framework for the youth justice system.
