About me:

Charlotte is responsible for leading the Technical Strategy for all teaching and research across the University. She also manages the large team of Technical experts and physical resources that form an essential part of the operations and strategic direction of the University

Charlotte is an experienced professional with a high level of technical understanding of the research landscape, and broader teaching ecosystem. She provides strategic leadership to the Technical Services community through applying almost 14 years’ experience of delivering academic-focussed customer service in research and business development as well as operational experience that requires a high degree of technical understanding to deliver outcomes.

Charlotte is a tenacious, flexible and creative individual who challenges the status quo in a positive and constructive way to provide a broad perspective for strategic issues.


Qualifications:

PhD in Physics

Masters in Physics with Medical applications


Career:

Charlotte was previously Assistant Director for Research Development & Management at driving the growth of the University’s research portfolio and leading a team of Research Development and Research Finance colleagues in supporting academics across the full research project lifecycle and major research initiatives.

Prior to this role Charlotte led the Medical School, Psychology and Sports and Health Sciences as Senior Research Development Manager and Cluster Lead for Health and Bio-environment. Whilst in this role she specialised in support for bids to the NIHR, MRC and Wellcome Trust.

Charlotte has also held a variety of posts in research development and business support for the University since her PhD. She has covered specialisms in various funders from ESPRC, MRC, Wellcome Trust, NIHR, GCRF and BBSRC and has supported a number of large University relationships with industry.
