I am a Research Software Engineer in the Research Software and Analytics Group.

I have several years experience developing software for technical domains, both as a Research Software Engineer and previously in commercial consultancy. My main experience is in employing Python and R for scientific computing, data analysis, statistical modelling, machine learning and optimisation problems, however I also look forward to opportunities to widen my skills and work with new technologies or in new domains. I also have a keen interest in good software development practices and software design.

My previous / current work includes:

• Developing a Python package to implementing novel statistical methods and support remote job management.
• Utilising machine learning for bacteria segmentation in microscope images.
• Developing a command line application to run a predictive machine learning for epigenetics on HPCs.
• Developing R packages for statistical modelling and data analysis.
• Developing software to solve resource allocation problems.
• Website / web application development.

I also have a doctorate in pure mathematics (algebraic geometry) and have practical experience of applying mathematics to different domains through my work experience.
