Research Management System / Capabilities Project

The University of Exeter is looking to procure and implement a research management system (RMS), a fully integrated digital solution to support our work throughout all aspects of research.

It will support the research project lifecycle from horizon scanning, research development, bidding and contracting, research project management and delivery (including post-award management) to post-project development, reporting and analysis.

The system will support primarily processes and procedures of the Research Services and Impact, Innovation and Business directorates, and will sit alongside the T1 Finance System and other systems.

Overall aims of the project

Delivering effective support services for research and better support the research life-cycle, and facilitate the activities and workflows associated with the management and delivery of quality research support services.

The aspirations of the research management capability project are to provide:

Research academics and students with a easy to use and seamless digital research support hub that will accelerate the research life-cycle and move the project quicker to the active research phase and exploit the outputs of research.

Professional services staff with a fully integrated digital capability with flexible access to information to better support researchers at every phase of their journey, from initial concept development, funding bid and project initiation; through the active phase of research; to publication and output management; and to exploitation to achieve its widest impact.

Decision makers with timely, accurate, joined-up and trusted information, with greater transparency of performance, to raise the external visibility of our research, facilitate and broaden collaboration, and deliver improved research service administration for the increasing number of research academics.
