Family friendly
The University is committed to helping working parents and carers, and offers a variety of benefits for staff:
Flexible working
The University has a range of flexible working arrangements. Through these arrangements, we aim to support our managers to deliver flexible services that meet the changing needs of our students and other customers, as well as assist our workforce in achieving a positive work-life balance. We have a flexible working hours scheme for staff, the principles of which are outlined in the Flexible Working policy.
Childcare facilities
Family Centre: Streatham Campus
There is a new nursery on the Streatham Campus. Owlets provides high quality childcare and early learning for babies from 3 months to five years old. The Nursery is part of the Exeter College Group and is a partnership with the University of Exeter. It is located next to Hope Hall and will be Ofsted registered for up to 104 children. The Nursery will be open weekdays for 50 weeks of the Year (closed over Christmas) from 8am to 6pm.
For more information visit the Owlets website.
Woodlane Nursery: near the Penryn Campus
There is a Day Nursery run by Falmouth Exeter Plus at Falmouth College of Art’s Woodlane Campus, which was warmly commended after its last Ofsted inspection. It welcomes babies from 12 months old and has separate facilities for children over the age of three. As the Day Nursery is very popular, please telephone 01326 213765 for further information.

Childcare vouchers
As part of its range of family friendly initiatives, the University has made arrangements to participate in a scheme which enables employees to purchase, via a salary sacrifice arrangement approved by HM Revenue & Customs, childcare vouchers without paying tax or National Insurance Contributions. Information on the scheme and how to join can be found in the Childcare Vouchers webpages.
Parents and Carers
The University is committed to helping working parents and carers and has introduced a range of policies to assist with this. More information about policies and procedures, including Maternity, Paternity/Partner leave and Adoption leave can be found on our Parents and Carers website.
