Taking Control of your Career

About this course: Are you just starting out in your career, or do you need to review where you are heading and why? This workshop will introduce a number of exercises and developmental tools that will help guide you through the career development process. The workshop will provide general guidance around career development, including themes such as getting to know yourself, exploring options, getting focused and taking action. The session is not designed to provide one to one career coaching but to provide you with the tools and techniques to have a realistic, honest and informed conversation with yourself! The session is a mix of instructor presentation and self-reflective activities that will help form a plan for your career actions.
Learning outcomes: As a result of attending this course, you should be able to:. - Identify your career priorities, influences and drivers. - Explore options for gathering information. - Plan your next steps. - Identify areas for development and what you might need in your "toolbox" for career progression.
Audience: This session is open to all staff. It is generic in terms of the career planning cycle and activities and can therefore be applied to all members of staff, the outcomes from the activities will however be specific to your needs.
