Advanced Information Governance
Description | Theme: Professional Development Category: Professional Knowledge and Business Skills Course overview: Do you have responsibility for data? Do you want to feel confident that you are doing all you can to keep the data safe? If yes, this course would be really helpful to you. The course will ensure you to develop an advanced level of knowledge on how to reduce risk and implement best practice information governance techniques.
Learning outcomes: By the end of the session delegates will be able to:. - Explain best practices in data protection to reduce risk. - Describe common breaches and how incidents should be reported and managed. - Explain records management and how to decide on the appropriate storage and retention plans. - Identify the requirements for Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA) and how to develop an effective DPIA or data management plan. - Develop a deep understanding of Information Security matters. - Explain the requirements of FOI and Subject Access Requests and why they matter.
Audience: Any academic or professional services staff member, supervisor, manager who handle data. This course is open to all University of Exeter staff and will be of particular benefit to:. - Academics in roles who have responsibilities for data protection. - Managers and supervisors, including those who are processing large volumes or high-risk data. - Members of the Secure Data Research Hub community. - Previous data protection champions who wish to refresh and enhance their knowledge. - Directors and Heads of Department should consider if any staff should be considered as essential attendees, based on their role in protecting data.
