Introduction to Cross-Cultural Awareness (Practical Skills)
Description | Theme: Personal Effectiveness Category: Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Course overview: What is culture and why does it matter? This session will help us explore how culture shapes our experiences, expectations and interactions with colleagues and students. We will learn about, and hear from, some of our international students' personal experiences. This is a very interactive session to boost your knowledge and confidence when working across cultures.
Learning outcomes: By the end of the session delegates will be able to:. - Develop a better understanding of the meaning of 'culture' and how it impacts people. - Recognise the context of internationalisation within the University. - Identify ways to improve your communication skills when interacting with international students.
Audience: Any professional services or academic staff. Staff specifically working with our international student community.
