About this course:

This course is designed to develop ability and practical confidence by equipping you with the knowledge and skills you need to complete manual handling risk assessments effectively.

There is a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical work.

Attendees will be required to complete a risk assessment based on a manual handling task /activity from their area they manage.

Learning outcomes:

As a result of attending this course, you will be able to:.

- Identify the difference between low risk and hazardous manual handling tasks.

- Utilise the HSE tools designed to assess manual handling tasks that cannot be avoided and use the right level of assessment for each task.

- Take practical steps to the reduce the risk of injury from manual handling.

Who should attend this course:

This course is for managers that are required to complete manual handling risk assessments within their Faculty or Professional Service.

Before the course:

It is recommended that delegates review the Safety, Health & Wellbeing webpage, read the Manual Handling Standard and become familiar with the supporting documentation within this standard e.g manual handling risk assessment templates (please see the linked Resources below).

Attendees will need to bring along an idea of a manual handling task or activity within their area, so that they can complete a risk assessment during the session.
