Researcher Development : Questionnaire Design - a very basic introduction
| Description | Theme: Education and Research Category: Education and Research About this course: This activity is for Research active staff and would be particularly useful to Early Career Researchers. This session will be DELIVERED VIRTUALLY - joining instructions will be provided beforehand. Dr Jonathan Doney will lead an interactive workshop on the basics of questionnaire design, drawing on over a decade of using questionnaires in a variety of settings. The workshop will focus on considering the key things to think about at the early stages of setting out on a questionnaire survey; it will be particularly appropriate for those who have no experience of questionnaire design.
Learning outcomes: As a result of attending this course, you will be able to: - Consider and list the key objectives of your questionnaire. - Consider how your research questions and analytical approach will shape the design of your questionnaire. - Develop some initial understandings of good practice in questionnaire design in terms of which questions to ask and how to sequence them for best outcomes. - Know where to go for more in-depth help with questionnaire design and analysis.
Who should attend this course: This course is recommended for PGRs and Research Staff who are new to using questionnaires in research.
Presenter(s): This session is facilitated by Dr Jonathon Doney, Senior Lecturer in School of Education and Departmental Director of Postgraduate Research. Jonathan Doney is a researcher and senior lecturer in the School of Education as well as Faculty Director of Postgraduate Research; he has an eclectic employment history and has worked as a researcher and teacher/trainer in a number of different areas. He has a particular interest in managing work and life in order to blossom and flourish and help others to do the same. The tools he will share here have been developed and adapted over a career as an independent researcher, PhD researcher and Early Career Researcher.
