Researcher Development : Essentials of Leadership

Description

Theme:

Education and Research

Category:

Education and Research This session will be DELIVERED VIRTUALLY - joining instructions will be provided beforehand.

This activity is for Research active staff and would be particularly useful to Early Career Researchers.

About this course:

"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, then you are a leader." (John Quincy Adams).

Leadership is a very much-studied, but still poorly understood phenomenon.

As we progress through our careers we almost inevitably will take on more leadership responsibility; whether that be deciding on the next path to take individually, influencing one other person or leading a team, group, department or organisation.

Thankfully, especially for professionals in the early stages of their career, leadership is something that can be explored and practiced before we reach a position of supervisorial or managerial authority.

This focused, online event, created especially for Research Staff will help you start to understand what leadership is, how you can lead authentically and how to get the best from the people around you.

The session will aim to provide you with a practical toolkit of models and techniques and will be responsive to your needs and questions.

Come ready to ask questions, discuss and share your insights about what you see leaders doing.

Please come to the session with a working microphone and webcam and from a place where you are able to talk freely
