Researcher Development : Key Challenges and Sources of Support for Female Early Career Academics
Description | Theme: Education and Research Category: Education and Research This session will be DELIVERED VIRTUALLY - joining instructions will be provided beforehand. This activity is for Research active staff and would be particularly useful to Early Career Researchers.
About this course: This session will discuss the experiences and challenges faced by women working as early career academics, as well as the various ways in which they can be effectively supported. This session is based on an on-going research project, supported by British Academy/Leverhulme, which explores this topic across Business/Management Schools across the UK. While the data focuses on the experiences of women, we encourage all genders to attend the session to understand the challenges faced, which are both gendered and universal in nature, and it is the responsibility of everyone to support all early career academics as they embark within this industry.
Learning outcomes: As a result of attending this course, you will be able to:. - Understand the experiences of women working as early career academics across the UK. - Identify ways in which women are at risk of additional or invisible workload, as well as other challenges. - Recognise where support will be valuable, and how to ask. - Implement a range of strategies to support this population, whether you are an early career academic, mid/senior academic, line manager, or senior manager, regardless of gender.
Who should attend this course: This activity is for Research active staff and would be particularly useful to Early Career Researchers or indeed anyone who interacts with women who are academics.
