New joiners
The University of Exeter is classified as a “Directions Employer” with regard to the National Health Service Pension Scheme and as such can offer continued membership of the NHS Pension Scheme to some members of staff as long as they fulfil all of the following criteria:
- You must have been an active member in the NHS Pension Scheme in the last 12 months before you join the University of Exeter
- Your employment at the University of Exeter must be within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences
- have a registered healthcare qualification
- have a continuing relationship with the NHS (through an honorary contract or part time).
If you are in any doubt as to whether or not you can maintain your NHS Pension Scheme membership, please contact the Pay and Benefits Office who can help you.
