1.10 Regulations Governing the Diploma in Theology
1 Eligibility
1.1 Applicants for admission to the programme for the Diploma in Theology must be graduates of the University or of another University or Institution of Higher Education approved by the Senate for this purpose, or other persons whose qualifications are acceptable to the Board of the Faculty of Taught Programmes, on the recommendation of the Head of the College of Humanities.
2 Credit-rating of Programme
2.1 Candidates are required to follow modules to a total value of 120 credits.
3 Period of Study
3.1 Candidates may register either full-time for three terms or part-time for six terms, in each case normally beginning with the Autumn Term. A candidate may be allowed to extend the period of study only for a reason approved by the Dean of the Faculty of Taught Programmes.
4 Subject of Study
4.1 Candidates shall follow modules to the value of 120 credits in accordance with the syllabus.
5 Examinations
5.1 The examination for the Diploma shall consist of four papers; full-time candidates will be examined at the end of the third term of study, part-time candidates will take two papers at the end of the third term and two papers at the end of the sixth term.
6 Re-examination
6.1 A candidate who fails in any part of the programme may be permitted re-examination in that part on one subsequent occasion, with or without attendance, with the approval of the Board of the Faculty of Taught Programmes acting on behalf of the Senate.
7 Award
7.1 The Diploma in Theology may be awarded with distinction.
