Your role as a ‘Colleague Mental Health Champion’
Welcome to your new role! This network will be an excellent opportunity to support our colleagues’ wellbeing and expands on the ‘Our People’ vision set out in the University Strategy 2030.
- You will be raising awareness of mental health and wellbeing in the workplace with a particular focus on key challenges/ barriers within your faculty or department.
- You will be challenging stigma surrounding mental health.
- You will be role modelling positive mental health work practices and healthy behaviours in the workplace and encouraging others to take part. Examples of these can be found here.
- You will be available to listen and talk to colleagues openly about mental health.
- You will coordinate and/or promote awareness-raising activities and campaigns for colleagues.
- You will promote and signpost support services available internally such as The University of Exeter’s Employee Assistance Programme’s counselling service Spectrum Life, Colleague Wellbeing, Occupational Health and Human Resources etc. You can also promote appropriate external support available. All of this will be covered in your training and handbook.
