Looking after yourself and support available to you

We think it is incredibly important that, as a Mental Health Champion, you have plenty of support and information available to you so that you feel comfortable and looked after during your role. If at any point you feel you need any further support or information, please do contact us at ColleagueWellbeing@exeter.ac.uk.

Microsoft Teams and SharePoint network

We have set up a Microsoft Teams and SharePoint network for you all: link. You can use this space to connect, ask questions and share updates. We in Colleague Wellbeing and Occupational Health will use this space to share new projects and resources you can signpost to.

Monthly networking meeting

We will be setting up monthly networking meetings for you to attend. These meetings will be an opportunity to network, share tips and ask questions. We in Colleague Wellbeing and Occupational Health will use these meetings to share information and new resources with you.

Time pressures

It is essential that the Mental Health Champion role does not become unduly pressured for you and make it difficult for you to fulfil the responsibilities of your substantive position. You can monitor this with your manager during your regular one to one meetings. We hope and anticipate that you will be able to combine the two roles within your contracted hours, but please do let us know if this is not the case so that we can help you to resolve this.

Support from us in Colleague Wellbeing and Occupational Health

Please contact us at ColleagueWellbeing@exeter.ac.uk if we can do anything further to support you. Governance support will also be offered to us via the Mental Health and Wellbeing board.

Self-care

Taking good care of yourself mentally and physically is pivotal to this role. We recommend exploring our self-care webpages as there are lots of resources and support available to help you feel your best. Remember self-care is not selfish. It is essential. We all need to make looking after ourselves a priority as preventative self-care is so much more effective than waiting until we feel unwell to access support.

Self-reflection

Self-reflection is very important in this role. It will be helpful to have a think about various conversations or elements of the role that may be triggering or challenging for you and how you might overcome this. We in Colleague Wellbeing and Occupational Health are here to help you so please do reach out if you find anything about this role challenging.
