Guidance for student brand ambassadors working for recruiters

Please note that the information on this page is only relevant for career-related activities and promotion. We cannot provide services or support for brand ambassadors engaged in more general brand promotion.

The Career Zone receives a high number of enquiries from student brand ambassadors working on behalf of recruiters, particularly during the busy autumn term. To help manage this effectively, we have provided guidance which outlines the services we offer and covers some of the most commonly asked questions.

General advertising

We can support you with advertising the organisation you represent. The options available are as follows:

We can accept a small number of employability-related flyers for display at our Career Zone reception desks.

Please deliver your marketing material to the Career Zone - in the Forum, Streatham Campus and The Exchange, Penryn campus. If the material relates to an event, please deliver to the relevant Career Zone no later than two weeks before the event takes place.

Please note: We do not hand out flyers on your behalf. You are not permitted to hand out flyers on campus unless a drop in/showcase event has been booked (please see ‘Other Events’ section).

You can promote your opportunities and events by tagging us in your Instagram posts, which we will then share in our stories.

Our Instagram accounts are:

Please note this is the only social media advertising we offer.

If your company is running an externally organised careers event, such as a trip to their offices or a careers talk, this can be added to Handshake for free, to promote to our students.

Please visit our External Events page for details of how to make a submission.

We receive a high number of requests to send emails out to our students. To manage this, we offer a bookable targeted email service. Each week during term time, two slots are available to book and are offered on a first come, first served basis. There is a charge of £200 + VAT for this service, which must be paid at the time of booking.

To book, please visit our targeted email page

Please note:

This is the only route available to send out bespoke emails to students. We are not able to offer this service for free or at a reduced rate.

You are not permitted to send emails from your account to other students and staff on behalf of an organisation for their commercial gain. Please be aware that you will be in breach of the University's IT regulations (see clause 5.4 and 5.5) if you attempt to do this.

Marketing your events

If the event has been booked through our team, we will automatically promote via:

  • Handshake
  • E-newsletter (What's on?)
  • Social Media

Marketing of events not organised by the Career Zone

We are sorry, but we are unable to offer the above full service for events which have not been booked via our team. However we encourage you to make use of our general advertising service as detailed at the top of this page.

When to book

Events should be booked as early as possible. Our autumn term is extremely busy and we therefore open for bookings around February/March and are usually full by August for the upcoming autumn term. We appreciate student brand ambassadors may not be employed at this point and may be tasked with booking an event when term starts. If we are able to add an additional event to our schedule, then please be aware that we will need a minimum of one month’s notice – preferably 6 weeks - in order to arrange and promote it effectively. Any available slots will be limited and if we are unable to accommodate your preferred date, we may suggest rolling it over into the next term.
