Employer presentations and promotional stands

Presentations provide the ideal opportunity to meet students who are particularly interested in your company. This type of event usually consists of a set amount of time for you to talk about your organisation, sector, and any opportunities you may have, followed by a designated time for Q&As and networking.

To make the best use of your time on campus, we usually recommend holding a drop-in promotional stand before and/or after your talk. A drop-in stand will allow you to raise your profile with our students informally by having a stand in our busy Exchange building.

Please bear in mind that all physical bookings require robust risk assessments and protocols to be followed in order for them to go ahead. They are also subject to the latest COVID-19 guidance.

Many employers hold presentations and drop-in stands during the autumn term, with the spring term also gaining in popularity. October and November are peak times, followed by February and March. Recruitment presentations usually last a maximum of one hour and can be followed by networking in the presentation room or in the campus bar.

The drop-in stands can be held for between a couple of hours up to a full day, either inside in a busy thoroughfare or outside if you would like to bring a larger stand or coffee cart for example.

Our Employer Engagement team will help you find the most suitable date and time, and promote the event to our students. We can book the space on campus as well as arranging the bar area for catered networking if appropriate.

For virtual presentations, you can upload your virtual event details to our events listings for students to book onto direct. We use the platform Handshake for all our careers events and jobs listings. Please see this link for how to add your virtual event direct to Handshake.

Presentations are advertised via our website, weekly newsletters, and social media channels.

We operate an electronic sign-up system using Handshake, which will provide a good indication of the number of students likely to attend your presentation.

We accept bookings throughout the year. However, there are limited slots and we urge you to book a date with us as early as possible. We advise at least 4 weeks notice between booking and the live event to maximise the opportunity for promotion and student sign up.

We currently do not charge an administration fee for employer presentations or drop-in stands. If you wish to provide catering for your presentation and/or networking we can arrange this for you through the on-campus catering team, we will need to invoice you for the full cost of the catering.

Please bear in mind that all physical bookings require robust risk assessments to be submitted in order for them to go ahead. They are also subject to the latest COVID-19 guidance.
