Our STEM Careers Fair, sponsored by Newton Europe is open to a range of STEM-focused companies looking to boost your profile and meet with our high calibre students, whilst promoting graduate vacancies, internships, placements and postgraduate courses. It typically attracts 70+ exhibitors and in the region of 1,000 – 1,500 students.
Please note that whilst this event is open to a variety of companies, it is not suitable for teaching agencies seeking to engage with our PGCE students or those looking to recruit Nursing students, those offering volunteering opportunities or unpaid/chargeable internships.
The event is marketed to University of Exeter students from all years and disciplines, including those based at our Penryn campus in Cornwall, but will be most suited to students in our Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy and Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. This includes those studying Computer Science, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Ecology and Conservation, Engineering, (Mechanical, Civil, Materials, Electronic and Renewable Energy) Geography (Physical and Human), Mathematics and Statistics, Physics and Astronomy, Natural Sciences, Economics, Finance and Accounting, Management, Biosciences, Health and Care Professions, Psychology, Clinical and Biomedical Sciences, Health and Community Sciences, Public Health and Sport Sciences. As we encourage early consideration of career pathways, you can expect those in the first year through to their final year to attend. Our graduates are also welcome.

To book onto the STEM Careers Fair, please complete the online booking form here. Please note the booking form will not be accessible before this date.
If you haven’t already, you will need to set up your Handshake account and connect with the University of Exeter, to be able to access the event registration form. Setting up your account and connecting with us can be done here. You will then need to click register to begin the booking process. If you are an agency, you must book under the client’s name and record.
Most companies are eligible for our standard rate of £495+VAT except where special rates apply – please see below.
- Agency Rate - £610 + VAT – all recruitment agencies and job portals
- Charity & Local SME Rate - £215 + VAT - registered charities recruiting to own organisation for paid positions; professional bodies; Cornwall, Devon and Somerset-based SMEs (fewer than 250 staff)
- Internal – Free - internal bookings only; please note lunch is not included.
Due to high demand for this event, we recommend submitting your booking form promptly. Please note we limit the number of spaces available to recruitment agencies and jobs portals (specialising in graduate recruitment only), to a maximum of three. Limited spaces are available for those who are eligible for our discounted rate and are allocated at our discretion.
The charges include:
- A stand space (2m height x 2.5m width x 1.5m depth)
- One table and two chairs
- One electrical point
- Wifi access (subject to restrictions, you will need to bring a dongle if you have an encrypted laptop)
- Lunch for two exhibitors (additional lunches will be chargeable)
- Tea, coffee, water and biscuits available throughout the day
- One parking space depending on availability
- A standard entry in our fair brochure
Invoicing will take place after the event. Failure to provide accurate and complete invoicing details may result in a processing fee of up to £100. Please note we cannot accept payment by credit card.
The fair will take place in The Great Hall and Sanctuary, University of Exeter, Stocker Road, Exeter, Devon EX4 4PY. The event will be open to students from 11:30 to 15:00. However, 30 minutes will be run as a quiet session to enable students and staff with additional needs to more easily access the fair experience.
Access to the building is from 08:30 to 17:00. Student helpers will be available throughout these times to assist.
Cancellation must be received in writing by emailing employer-events@exeter.ac.uk by Thursday 26 September 2024.
Cancellations received after this date will result in the full cost being incurred. Failure to attend the fair, regardless of reason, will result in the full charge being levied.
