Employer in the Foyer

Bookings for autumn 2025 are now open.

Please contact employer-events@exeter.ac.uk if you are interested in discussing potential dates.

An Employer in the Foyer offers the convenient drop-in format but is held in an academic building. This enables you to raise your profile and engage with a targeted cohort of students.

These events are especially beneficial for engaging with students who have lecture-heavy timetables, such as Engineering students, as they enable brief but meaningful interactions in a location convenient to them by being in close proximity to their classes.

The relaxed environment of these events lends themselves to promoting your organisation to both casual passer-bys, as well as those who have already undertaken research and are eager to speak in more depth about your opportunities.

These events can be arranged as a one-off activity or alternatively, you may wish to schedule in other sessions as part of your visit.

Due to the nature of these events, they are only available on campus.

Please bear in mind that all physical bookings require robust risk assessments and university protocols to be followed for them to go ahead.

Please click on the headings below for more information, including charges.

Require a bigger space or looking to hold a large scale installation? Then see our showcase events page.

If you are a current student visiting this page, please visit Handshake for a list of all upcoming employer in the Foyer events.

The location of an Employer in the Foyer will depend on the student demographic you are seeking to engage.

Engineering, Computer Science and Maths – Harrison Building, Streatham Campus

Accounting and Finance, Business and Management (including Marketing) and Economics  - Building: One, Streatham Campus

All locations are within easy reach of cafes, vending machines or kitchen facilities, which you are welcome to make use of.

An Employer in the Foyer event consists of a table and two chairs, Wi-Fi and space for a banner stand. Access to an electrical point is subject to availability.

Most occur during the autumn and spring term, with October and February typically our busiest periods. However, Employer in the Foyer events are available throughout the academic year.

Held Monday - Friday, they can take place anytime between 10:00-16:00. While most organisations prefer slots from 10:30-14:00 or 11:30-15:30, the timing is entirely to your choosing. To ensure maximum students attendance, we do however, recommend that you cover the lunch period and ask that your event is booked for a minimum two hours.

Please note that set-up can be as early as 9:00, whilst set down must be complete by 16:30.

Employer in the Foyer events are advertised via:

  • The Career Zone website
  • Our internal online events site ‘Handshake’
  • Email circular, sent to all Streatham and St Luke’s campus based students (approximately 20,000)
  • Our social media channels.

Where possible, the events will also be included in Faculty-based marketing material.

In order to benefit from all the publicity opportunities and get the best attendance, we urge you to book a date with us as early as possible - many employers secure their preferred dates when we first open for bookings (spring, for the upcoming autumn term). As the spring term has increased in popularity resulting in extremely high demand, we strongly recommend booking well before the end of the autumn term to avoid disappointment.

We advise at least 4 weeks notice minimum between booking and the live event.  For events in October,  November and February, however, please contact us no later than 8 weeks before the start of the term.

Employer in the Foyer is charged at £75+VAT. Charges include marketing as outlined above and support from our team on the day.
