We aim to match mentors with appropriate mentees who are looking to gain insight into their particular sector. Occasionally mentees may come across as timid on first impressions and it is understandable that they may be overwhelmed or slightly worried by meeting an experienced professional for the first time. Please be patient and give them the chance to get to know you and for you to get to know them. We provide guidelines in a support guide available to both mentor and mentee to help you structure your initial meeting that will hopefully avoid any problems with not knowing what to say to each other.
If you feel that the match is not appropriate please contact a member of the team.
The University of Exeter promotes paid work experience, in line with National Minimum Wage regulations. If you require more advice, please contact our internships team.
In light of the current global situation surrounding Coronavirus, we are advising against any in-person work experience. If you have work experience available that your mentee could conduct remotely, please contact our internships teams (internships@exeter.ac.uk) for further guidance.
By participating in this scheme, all mentees agree to maintain regular contact with their mentor. The level of contact expected is a minimum of at least once per month via email, telephone or Skype. Please be patient with your mentee as there will be periods when they are very busy with coursework or exams and may not be in contact, however they should inform you when these busy periods are coming up.
If you have not heard from your mentee in a long time, please contact a member of the team by emailing careermentorscheme@exeter.ac.uk
