Choral Scholarships

Auditions for the Chapel Choir of 2024-25 are now open.

Choral Scholarships

The value of each full Choral Scholarship for 2024-25 is £900.

The full scholarship is comprised of:

  • £300, given as two instalments of £150 during the academic year.
  • The choir sings at the University's graduation ceremonies (winter and summer). This is optional, but each chorister who did so then received the remaining £600 at the end of the academic year.

Please see the role of a chorister for full details of what would be expected of you as a choral scholar.

Funding

Some of the choir's concerts and special events, such as weddings, will provide choristers with opportunities for additional payment to supplement their scholarship.

Where trips involve an overnight stay, accommodation will be provided free of charge.

Eligibility

If you are a University of Exeter student who will be studying at one of the Exeter campuses (Streatham and/or St Luke's) for a full academic year or longer, then you are very welcome to audition for the Chapel Choir. This opportunity is open to students in all years (not just first years), undergraduates and postgraduates, and there is no age limit – mature students are very welcome to audition.

The Chapel Choir is free to join and you do not need to be a member of the Students' Guild – entry is entirely the result of a successful audition.

You do not need to be religious or a person of faith to be a member of the choir, we simply ask that you are respectful of the places of worship in which you are singing.
