Postgraduate Engineering students

In the faculty of Environment, Science and Economy in term 2 we begin our series to support you with dissertation writing. There are two sessions this term, and then another three that you can attend in term 3. These sessions will be embedded into your dissertation module and will appear on your timetable. We will also offer drop-in sessions and one-to-one support for those of you who would appreciate the opportunity to ask further questions. 

 

Writing your Dissertation Proposal: supports the specific requirements given by the Department of Engineering for writing and organisation of your dissertation proposal.  Thursday 13th February, 10.35-11.25 in Amory Parker Moot Room LT 

Introduction to Dissertation Writing: Focusing on the literature review section of a dissertation and how to use language and organisation to make it effective, precise and critical. Sign up here. Tuesday 18th March, 15.35-16.25 in Streatham Court LT A 

 

English Language Skills Development for students on ALL Science programmes

Academic Writing for Science (AWSC) 

This course, which comprises 7 sessions, is suitable for students on all science programmes at the university and at all degree levels. Topics include: 

  • Written organisational skills 
  • Making effective use of sources 
  • Appropriate academic style 
  • Language skills for research reports and data commentary 

This course runs on Wednesdays 12.35-14.25 from 29th January to 12th March in Old Library 134. Click on the links below to sign up. Signing up for one session will automatically sign you up for all subsequent events.
