Shattering Hollywood’s Glass Ceiling

During Grand Challenges week, Shattering Hollywood’s Glass Ceiling researched the issue of inequality within film direction, and came up with two solutions: a petition to introduce a Female Director category to the Academy Awards and a website to highlight the inequality they had learnt about and to push the work of female directors to serve as a stepping stone for more women to be recognised within the industry. Their website covers Ted Talks by women on what it’s like to be a woman in Hollywood, documentaries directed by women and a forum for sharing your own experience as either a female director or as a woman working in any other behind-the-scenes role in the film industry.
