Ukrainian Wartime Poetry: Translating Experience A renaissance of Ukrainian poetry is happening now, as soldiers and civilians seek to process the horrors of war. Join Hugh Roberts from Languages, Cultures and Visual Studies in this workshop, where he'll share translations of the poetry by serving members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as well as by some who have been killed, including the novelist and children's writer turned poet and war crimes investigator, Victoria Amelina. The workshop will draw on their work for inspiration for your own creative pieces, to express what you live for and what precious people and things you wish to defend and protect.

Open Iftar Everyone is welcome to our Cultural Festival Great Hall Iftar. Iftar is one of the religious observances of Ramadan and the evening breaking of the fast is often done as a community. Come and break your fast or support your friends at this free community meal. Last year’s event was great – this year it’s even bigger in the Great Hall!
Meal will include: Water and dates Chicken Biriyani or Vegetable Biriyani (please chose when booking your ticket) Pudding
Event starts at 5pm with last admittance to the Great Hall at 5.30pm.
Ticket deadline: 12 noon, Wednesday 5 March. We will not be keeping a reserve list. If you would like to come but didn’t get a ticket, please come to the Terrace at 5pm. We will allocate unused tickets at 5.30pm to any students who arrive without tickets.

Dartmoor Walk Join our resident Dartmoor walking enthusiast, Chaplain Simon Taylor, for a 2.5 hour walk exploring the moor at Okehampton. Participants are responsible for their own train travel costs (£9.20 return from Central to Okehampton, less with a railcard). You must wear suitable clothing and bring refreshments for your walk.

Football Festival This event will include a Football tournament, Devon FA Continued Professional Development sessions on coaching & refereeing, and an Iftar. The event will run from 17:00-22:00, at the university. Come and join us for an evening full of football, learning, and meeting new people, all in the name of celebrating cultural diversity.

Cultural Variety Show (open to General Public) Join us for the finale of Cultural Festival - we'll have performances from song to dance from a variety of our societies, celebrating art from their cultures! Early bird tickets available including free soft drink and snack or just turn up on the day and enjoy the whole show. Pay bar will be open at 17.00 in the Terrace where you will also see the photographs taken earlier in the week, a sari exhibition and view the artwork created by students at the St Lukes Crafternoon! Early bird tickets will receive a free soft drink and snacks in the Terrace. Please arrive early to claim yours! The show will start at 18:30 so please take your seats by 18.20. You may not be able to enter the Great Hall after 18.30 to respect all our performers. The show will last approximately 2 hours with a small interval.
