Wellbeing Services in Cornwall

Prospective students

You can contact us at any point before starting your studies at the University of Exeter, Cornwall to tell us about your disability. By doing this the Accessibility Team will be able to tell you what support is available to you and offer advice if you live with:

  • a specific learning difference like dyslexia, dyspraxia or ADHD
  • autism
  • a mental health difficulty
  • a physical disability
  • sensory impairments
  • a long term medical condition

Please complete our Online application for an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) so that we can make appropriate and timely arrangements for you. If you are applying for an undergraduate degree you can also tick the disability box when completing your UCAS form.

You can find out more about this on our Tell us about your disability page

We aim to respond to your application for an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) within one month, but it may take us longer to reply during busy periods for instance after A-level results day.

Once we receive your form, we will contact you to discuss your support arrangements and any evidence we require.

We will then create a provisional Individual Learning Plan (ILP), which will let our University departments know about the reasonable adjustments we recommend for your learning and teaching, including any exam adjustments.

Please note: we will contact you via the email address you provided through UCAS or on your direct application. If you need to update your email address, please do this via the UCAS Hub.

If you need adapted accommodation or have certain accommodation requirements, please specify the support that would be of benefit to you on your ILP application above.

You should apply for accommodation in Cornwall separately in the April before your course starts. Please complete your application on  Room Service (the accommodation application portal).  You can find out more about applying for our University accommodation here.

Wherever possible your ILP form and your accommodation application should both be submitted before the accommodation guarantee deadline, 31 July. This helps us get your requests in place in time for starting at Uni.

We look forward to meeting you when you join us, but if you have any questions, please email us at: accessibility@fxplus.ac.uk and we will be happy to help you.

We’ve also put together a checklist of the main things you will need to do to access your support below.

  • Complete an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) Application and attach relevant supporting evidence. Please check your emails regularly following completion for updates from us.
  • Consider applying for funded support for disabled students such as Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA).
  • If you have already applied for and been granted DSA funding, check your entitlement letter to see if you need to contact any suppliers yourself.
  • Ensure your contact details are up to date, for example, if you are using your college or school email address it may be deactivated over the Summer.
  • If you have not declared a disability on your UCAS application, please consider doing so when you complete online registration as a student here later in the year.
The term 'disability' is used in the Equality Act 2010 to help define who is eligible for support; declaring a disability does not disadvantage you in any way.
