Accommodation Support

We endeavour to support all eligible students, but please be aware if you submit your form after the accommodation guarantee deadline we may not be able to put all your accommodation support in place.

More information

There's more on setting up support while at university in our Prospective Students guide.

We aim to respond to your Prospective Student form submission within one month, but please be aware that it may take us slightly longer to reply during busy periods.

Once we receive your form we will contact you to discuss your support arrangements. Please note, we will be contacting you via the email address you provided through UCAS or on your direct application. If you need to update your email address, please do so via UCAS Hub.

We will either:

  • Create a provisional Individual Learning Plan (ILP), which informs relevant University departments of the reasonable adjustments we recommend for your learning and teaching, including any examination adjustments.
  • Request further supporting evidence.
  • Advise you to arrange an appointment with an accessibility advisor or Mental Health Practitioner to discuss your support in more detail.

If you need modified accommodation or have certain requirements, you will need to specify the support that would be of benefit to you on the Prospective Student form/ILP application above. If you are unsure of options available to you and you are applying for a course based on our campuses in Exeter, Devon, read the guidance available on the Accommodation webpage. If you are applying for a course based in Cornwall, please see information on accessible rooms and additional requirements.

Please also fill out the separate Accommodation application that opens in the April before your course starts:

Wherever possible your prospective student form/ILP form and your accommodation application should both be submitted before the Accommodation guarantee deadline. This helps to ensure we are able to put your requirements in place in time and that you are guaranteed University accommodation. Read more on the relevant Accommodation website:

Read about the accessibility of our campuses on the AccessAble website. You can see information for the Streatham Campus and the Penryn Campus.

You can also take a virtual tour of our learning spaces on all our campuses.

Check out our Prospective Students guide to settling in at University.

We look forward to meeting you when you join us, but if you have any questions  please contact us and we will be happy to help you. Below is a checklist of the main things you will need to do to access your support:

  • Fill out our Prospective Online Form and attach relevant supporting evidence. Please check your emails regularly following completion of the prospective student form for updates from Wellbeing Services (Devon) or Student Support (Cornwall).
  • Consider applying for funded support for disabled students such as Disabled Students' Allowances (DSA) or via apprenticeship funding if you are on an apprenticeship.
  • If you have already applied for and been granted DSA funding, and are entitled to Non-Medical Helper support from the University of Exeter, please fill out our DSA Funded Specialist Support request form to request your support for the upcoming academic year.
  • Ensure your contact details are up to date; for example, if you are using your college or school email address it may be deactivated in the coming weeks.
  • If you have not declared a disability on your UCAS application, please consider doing so when you complete online registration as a student here later in the year. You should note that the term 'disability' is used in the Equality Act 2010 to help define who is eligible for support, and declaring a disability does not disadvantage you in any way. Please read Declaring a Disability or Health Condition for further guidance.
