Mardon Hall is our oldest purpose-built residence, built in 1933, with many original features such as the wood-panelled library (now used as a study room) and grand staircase still intact. The residence also has wonderful views over the Exe Valley.
The residence has 77 single standard rooms, all of which have sinks. Bathroom facilities are shared: there is approximately one toilet between six, one shower (enclosed cubicles) for every five residents and two baths available. Bathrooms also have a short mirror and waste bin.
There is one utility area in the building, providing a space for preparing snacks and lunches. It contains a microwave, kettle, sink and waste bins. An iron and ironing board are available in the laundry room.
New for September 2024 - Twin rooms also available. Find out more.
Meals are served at Holland Hall.
Residents must move out during the Christmas and Easter vacations, return their key and may be asked to remove all belongings.
The University of Exeter continually invests in its properties to provide new facilities and upgrade existing ones. We are proposing to build the new West Park student residences on our Streatham campus in the Clydesdale area between Holland Hall, Birks Grange Village and Nash Grove. For more information please visit the Building works that may affect residences webpage.

Mardon Hall gallery
I loved my time in Mardon Hall, it really is a hidden gem and has a real sense of community. Being one of the smaller accommodations I found you get to know everyone so well!
I also loved being catered in my first year as it was so social. Getting to go to breakfast and dinner with your friends also meant you could focus on getting to know people and not so much on budgeting your food shop for one year!
